When is it considered a fully digital PhD defense?
- Every single attendee participates online from their own computer
- None of the primary participants are located in the same room
When is it considered a Hybrid PhD defense?
- The defense takes place in a room at AAU.
- Participants, both primary as well as spectators, can attend by being in the room or online from their own computer
The hybrid setup is more complex to run compared to a fully digital setup. The reason being that there are several participants in the same room who needs to share a camera, microphones, and sound. Furthermore, a connection to the online meeting needs to be handled. Read more about this in procedure links below.
Service description
- IT Support offers support to the person in charge of running the PhD defence.
- We offer to assist and give advice regarding the technical setup, testing of the setup with participants, and if possible participate and supervice execution. We cannot however guarantee we are available at the specific time.
IT Support does not offer to take over responsibility from the one in charge. - In addition to this, ITS offers free mini courses and instructions for self-help. We recommend that the person responsible for the PhD defense books a mini course by creating a case in the Serviceportal
