Installation of reference styles in MS Word 365 in Windows 

Underneath you will find an example of a reference style, which applies to APA7. 

APA 7th Edition for Microsoft Word 

To use the file, you will need to download it in .xsl format.

Placement of the file

The downloaded file needs to be placed in the following folder:

C:\Users\<your_login_name>\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Bibliography\Style

To access this folder, you will need to:

• Click on the Windows start button in the lower lefthand corner 
• Type in %AppData% 
• Click enter

Your Windows File Explorer will open in the folder ‘Roaming’ 

• Navigate to \Microsoft\Bibliography\Style from here 
• Insert your .xsl file in the folder ‘Style’  
• Restart Word 

Hereafter, your new reference style will work in Word.
