Umbraco community on Teams

The transition to the new CMS Umbraco means that more and more AAU websites continue to be published in improved versions in the new design. The UX team, which helps all units' web staff with the migration of websites to Umbraco, has ongoing training both in person and online, where a valuable community has also been created in Teams to share knowledge about the work in Umbraco among users.

Katja Riddersholm Fjelsten explains:

- "The web and communication staff who work in departments and institutes and are responsible for the work of web editors are extremely creative, curious and communicative. This gives us good opportunities to help them in their work, while at the same time we get ideas, wishes and their views on opportunities for further development of modules for Umbraco, for example. Therefore, our main channel in Teams for AAU employees working with Umbraco has become a really important tool for everyone involved.

Among the web editors, the Teams channel is also the frontrunner when it comes to the forms of contact and collaboration that can be used. In addition to the Teams channel, the UX team also handles cases in the ITS support system, holds open office hours, organizes workshops and courses, and regularly publishes news about features and bug fixes in Umbraco.

- We use Teams very actively in relation to communication and support via dialogue in categorized Teams channels, says Camilla Ladegaard Andersen from UX and continues:

- "It is both about support for the editors, dissemination of news, sharing which sites are published and information about training and open office.

- We also receive valuable feedback from the editors, for example on suggestions for new modules and improvements to existing ones, as well as error reports. At the same time, we can quickly and regularly notify the editors if we handle something critical in Umbraco that affects the editors' work, says Katja.

Example of crisis management in Teams.

Finally, we also see that the editors seek advice, complement and inspire each other. And then they like, write comments and send funny GIFs, which just emphasizes the good collegiality across organizational boundaries and that everyone wants to help each other in a good way, Camilla adds.

The experience of a valuable community can also be seen in the statistics behind the Teams channel:

What do the editors say?

"I would really just like to say thank you for this opportunity to use Teams, and that you are always so helpful and constructive when people write to you here. Teams works really well for support - also that you can see replies to others."

"Your community approach to supporting this large implementation is exemplary! It is a great advantage for me that Teams' search field is actually really good. You can search specifically for previous posts."

"The Teams group provides easy access to "nice to" and "need to" information about problems with the website and modules, about new modules, inspiration, etc. in an easy way and not least very little time consuming way."
